THE SPRINGBORO HIGH SCHOOL
BAND AND GUARD WELCOMES YOU

A MESSAGE FROM MR. PALMER

Dear Springboro Band Students,

Without question, we are living in uncertain and strange times. Many of life’s joys and pleasures we once took for granted now seem like a distant memory. Our country and our world, which once contained constants, has screeched to a halt. However, amongst the fear, illness, trials, and uncertainty, there lives one constant which both suffering and despair cannot take away:  music.

You all have been blessed with one of the most powerful gifts this earth has ever known - the ability to hear, read, and share beautiful music. Music lifts the spirit, provides comfort to those in need, and expresses love like few worldy things can. In this society, which seems to change by the hour, music is one of the strongest gifts we can share with one another.

I want to remind you that we, as a united Springboro Band Family, are here for YOU and we WILL get through this together! When we have reached peace, and life has returned to as much normalcy as it can, we will reunite, share our stories and laughter together, and above all, make beautiful music together.

Until then, remember you have many people within this family who care for you and will do what we can to help you. You have your musical instruments which allow for powerful ways to express your thoughts and feelings during troubling times. And above all, as an artist and musician, you have been given the gift and ability to create music which can serve as a beacon of light in this dark period. I urge you to take that gift and share it with yourself, share it with others (from a safe distance, of course), and share it with a world that so desperately needs it right now.

Please know the band staff is here for you and upon our return to school, whenever that may be, we want to see you return as the happy, healthy, and resilient students we know you to be. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces, listening to your jokes, and hearing your wonderful music flood our ears once again. Continue sharing one of your most powerful gifts: music.

Until we meet again,

Mr. Palmer
